We know that when it comes to home school, physical activity and group sports participation can get a little tricky because there isn't much available during the day.
...and let's face it, when parents ask kids to do physical activity, sometimes it's seen as a chore! Our kids are the same way.
~ You SHOULD have support for physical activity and health as a home school student.
~ You SHOULD be able to access a program that is held DURING THE DAY so you can keep your evenings and weekends for other activities.
~ You SHOULD have the option to participate in a program that's run by educators with experience teaching and writing curriculum, and who have degrees in Human Performance, Sport, and Exercise Science.
...and now you have that option.
Students need the right balance of academics and athletics to be a successful home school student and a physical activity program can improve academic performance!
Our programs are run by educators and help to promote a healthy, active lifestyle and encourage skill development in a fun and safe environment.
You’re already doing so much for your child’s education; let us support you and add to their success.
We cannot wait to meet you all and support your homeschooling journey.
An Adjunct To Your Curriculum & Support For You
Home schooling takes a village and we're part of that village for you.
Our curriculum is designed to create critical thinkers, encourage and celebrate creativity, develop leadership and teamworking skills; give opportunities to work alone (because some of us are just built to excel that way), and introduce a different way of doing health and fitness.
Health, fitness, and wellness should be fun so we'll teach your kiddos the skills they need to live an active, healthy and fun life, disguised as P.E. and athletics.
We'll bring the fun, the novelty, and the knowledge if you'll bring the enthusiasm and willingness to try.
We're going to include fitness and strength for our water loving community (surfing, boating, paddleboarding, skiing, etc.), "yoga" to help kiddos through painful growth spurts and bring some calm to the nervous system, games from all over the world so your kiddos get an insight into other cultures (not religions), traditional P.E. games and athletics that they might not otherwise get an opportunity to try such as discuss, relay, long jump and more.

Our Inclusive Program Means No One Is Left Out
Every child has the right to participate. Every child has the right to try. Every child has the right to succeed. Every child has the right to smile.
When we say that we are inclusive, we mean it. If your child has extra needs, they are welcome. If they can be independent during class, you can take a seat or go for a walk. If they need extra support, we want you to participate with your child so that they can participate!
No matter your child's gender, identity, physical or intellectual status, whether neuro-diverse or neuro-typical, race, religion, or any other variable you can think of, they are welcome.
Coach Rick and Coach Michelle are currently learning sign language so while we are not yet going to make any sense at all with our signing, we are doing our best to learn how to be able to communicate with the deaf community. Bear with us while we learn and feel free to teach us!
If you have questions about your child's needs for participation, please reach out to us: hellocoach@totalsoccertrainingnc.com and we can chat together.
There are so many great benefits to participating in regular physical activity and Coach Rick and Coach Michelle (who are both educators) want to support you and your kiddos. We've got your back, parents!
Instead of telling students what to do, we foster critical thinking skills, leadership, creativity, teamwork and independent activities.
- After checking in to class we'll all begin with a chat about the plan for the day, address any questions or concerns and then we'll warm-up.
- Students will learn a standard warm-up so that even if they're late for class, they can seamlessly join in and know exactly what to do without feeling like eyes are on them (unless it's a smile and a friendly hi).
- We'll break into groups if necessary, teach a skill/movement, practice it, and repeat the process for any additional skills/movements.
- Then, we'll go over the main activity, establish any rules by teaching students about the game/activity/circuit and then play/get to it!
- We'll finish with a stretch and a high-five/knuckles/nod and students can head home or hang out if they have an older sibling in a later class.
- 1st and 2nd graders will be together in a fun 50 minute session
- 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will be together or break out into age or interest-based groups in a 60 minute session
- 6th, 7th and 8th graders will be together or break out into age or interest-based groups in a 60 minute session
TRADITIONAL P.E. ACTIVITIES
We'll learn new sports from around the world, play "old-fashioned" games, run, jump, skip, hop, tag, tug, press, throw, catch and play our way to a fit, healthy, and active future. Let's bust away the stress and have fun being young. Think Soccer, volleyball, basketball, handball, ultimate frisbee, rounders, kickball, capture the flag and more.
NON-TRADITIONAL P.E. ACTIVITIES
As home schooling families, you want to break the mold on traditional methods. Instead of traditional P.E. methods, you'll see body weight training; calisthenics, fitness for water sports; yoga; track & field sports; obstacle courses; team-building; "On Yer Head", and more.
INDEPENDENT THINKER BLOCKS
During the semester, students will be given the opportunity to create their own activities, whether in a group or individually. Every activity will supervised and our coaches will teach students how to brainstorm, structure, run, and teach their ideas (if they want to).
We'll create, combine, and reinvent games and sports, to test imaginations and creative skills.
Our mission is to reshape the idea of P.E., athletics, and fitness into something your child will love for years to come.
There are three sessions to choose from each week. You'll be assigned regular attendance day/days based on your preference at registration. Should you need to switch attendance days on occasion or permanently, simply email us to let us know.
Whether you select one, two or three sessions each week, you'll have options if your schedule changes. We know things come up and we don't want your kiddo to miss out.

Students will be split into grade level classes as the program grows. We anticipate this occurring in Spring 2024. In Fall 2023 we will coach as a whole group but will have small group activities, whole group activities and will split older and younger athletes when needed between our coaches. We will continue to engage students in age-appropriate, fun activities that have them laughing, moving their bodies and feeling great.
